WEDIKO 2007
Thank you again for the grant from the Jason Hayes Foundation. Per your request, your grant made a summer at Wediko possible for a child and family facing financial constraints.

This spring, a family came to us “at the end of their rope”. They had worked with us last summer and in their words, “experienced a sense of hope” The Wediko NH Summer Program was the first time their daughter was able to participate in a program without being asked to leave. It was the first time this 11 year old girl, who had been in five different foster homes before being adopted at 6 years old was able to make friends and have fun!

The Jason Hayes Foundation was proud to contribute toward another summer camp experience for Sarah and "she continued to make gains and build on the success of her last summer." (per Wediko)

A SOCIAL WORKER
John, age 8, was able to attend a week at a therapeutic camp for children with emotional and social skills issues earlier this summer. This morning when I picked him up from his foster home, he presented with his usual quiet and unfriendly demeanor. However, when I asked him about his camp program, he became animated for the first time since I met him and enthusiastically described some of the things he was able to do at camp. I would love to see him get another week at this therapeutic day camp. Can the Jason Hayes Foundation help?

Yes – John attended camp another week in August with the funding he received from the JHF

BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS
For 37 years, Bridge has remained a trusted, reliable ally for runaway adolescents, homeless, and high-risk youth, who often have no one else to turn to. With the generous support of people like you, we are able to maintain our open door policy and help these young people to not only meet essential daily needs, but to work toward a brighter future with programs in job training, education, counseling, medical assistance and temporary housing.

“THINK:KIDS”
With your help, someday soon we hope to be able to say that kids are no longer being treated in inhumane and abusive ways simply because their challenges are poorly understood. It is devoted donors like you who make our work possible and for that we are extremely grateful.

AN ADOPTIVE MOM
I came across your web site this morning and I had to write you. The words you use to describe Jason could be my son. He lived in 4 foster homes before we adopted him. He is very confused and angry. Thank you for the work you do.

ANOTHER MOM
When your foundation was e-mailed to me I quickly glanced through it.. When I clicked on learn more about Jason it felt like you were talking about my (foster) son…. Every situation you described is him (he is just turning 12) and on top of that he has some special educational needs. I felt the tears in my eyes when you described the school situation because we have been there many times and continually struggle to educate the school about his needs. I felt compelled to e-mail you and thank you for writing the story about Jason It helped us to know that we are not alone in trying to help our children who are so loving but yet misunderstood and for starting a foundation for children who struggle everyday with their emotions and existence in this complicated world.

THE MASS ADVOCACY COMMISSION
Thank you so much for your continued support of MAC. It means so much to us that you have such confidence in the work that we do on behalf of children in Massachusetts. I also want to thank you for sending your newsletter. I am very excited to see that the work we are doing through our Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative (TLPI) in schools and around mental health policy statewide so closely fits the mission of your foundation and the guidelines of the RFP you plan to issue this spring. We would very much like the opportunity to share with you in person the work of TLPI and to discuss ways we can work together to further the mutual goals of our program and your foundation.
